About HRI

HRI is an off-season FTC Event modeled after the similar off-season competitions including the Chicago Robotics Invitational (CRI) and Maryland Tech Invitational (MTI). June 2023 was the first time UConn hosted HRI. HRI was also the first FIRST event hosted at UConn . We are excited help bridge the gap between the FIRST community and the UConn community.

Event Location

This event will be taking place in McHugh Hall on the UConn Storrs campus. We recommend parking in Lot 4 or A Lot as they are free on the weekends. If you would prefer to park in a garage, please park in North Garage, however garage parking is not free and is a 15 minute walk from the venue. See the UConn Parking website for more information about UConn Parking Garage rates. All recommended parking is within a 5-15 minute walk of the event venue.

Note: To navigate to any UConn Parking lots, just put the name of the lot into the navigation app of your choice. Please keep in mind that there is construction happening on UConn's campus that might cause road closures.

2023 Event Recap

The first HRI went very well. 14 Teams competed and UConn ECE offered tours one of their robotics labs to event attendees. Congrats to alliance captain FTC Team 20153 and their teammates 18438 and 5518 for being the first ever winners of HRI. And shout out to FTC Teams 14212, 13181, and 130 for being our event finalists. We were so happy with how the event turned out and hope that this is the start of more FIRST events at UConn.
