Events

On November 11th, UConn FIRST attended and served as the judges for the Wolcott FLL Qualifier. We loved getting to see all the student's projects and robots. Congrats to all the teams that won awards and golden tickets.

On November 18th, UConn FIRST attended and served as judges at both the Old Lyme and Tolland FLL Qualifiers. Members of the club also served as mentors for 3 FLL Teams that competed at the Old Lyme Qualifier. 

On December 2nd, UConn FIRST hosted FIRST University Day. This was the first time the event was hosted on the UConn campus. The event featured 18 presentation topics, from various members of the NE FIRST community. It also featured a club fair/poster demonstration, alumni panel, and tours of the UConn Storrs campus. 

On December 9th, members of UConn FIRST served as mentors of three FLL teams competing at the CT FLL State Championships. Our club Vice President, Joey M., also received one of the Outstanding Mentor Awards at the event. It was a great way to wrap up the FLL Challenge Season.

On January 13th, 2024, UConn FIRST kicked off the new year by attending the Wolcott FTC Qualifier. Club members served as a referee, judge, and the judge advisor for the event. This event was a great start to the FTC Qualifier season. 

On January 27th, 2024, UConn FIRST continued having a presence at CT's various FTC events. This event was attended by UConn FIRST club members but also UConn professors. 

On February 3rd, 2024, UConn FIRST volunteered at the Tolland County Robotics Rumble hosted by the Tolland County Robotics Foundation. This event was an FTC Qualifier and off season FLL Scrimmage. We had so much fun interacting with the students from both the FLL Challenge and FTC programs.

On February 17th, 2024, UConn FIRST hosted the Connecticut FIRST Tech Challenge State Championship, Presented by the University of Connecticut. This was the first regular season FIRST competition hosted at UConn. One of the core missions of the club is to bring together the UConn and FIRST communities, and we are so happy that this event was such a success. Congrats to the Winning Alliance and all the event award winners.

During the weekend of March 1st-3rd, UConn FIRST volunteered at the Hartford FRC District Event. We were honored to have a table on scholarship row in order to promote the organization and the UConn College of Engineering's Robotics Major. We had a lot of fun serving as referees, judges, and in other roles at the event. 

On March 6th-8th, UConn FIRST kicked off our spring break volunteering at the Waterbury FRC District Event. At the event we served referees, judges, mentors, and in other event roles. 

On March 14th-16th, UConn FIRST wrapped up our spring break volunteering at the University of Rhode Island District Event. We served as referees, judges, and in other volunteer roles. 

On March 22nd-24th, UConn FIRST volunteered at the Western New England District Event. We had a lot of fun serving as referees, judges, mentors, and other event roles. 

On April 5th, UConn FIRST volunteered at the first ever FTC New England Invitational. In fact over a third of the event volunteers were affiliated with UConn!

On April 3rd-6th, UConn FIRST wrapped up the FIRST in SHOW season by volunteering and mentoring at the New England District Championship.
